How much does car window tinting cost in the UK?

Published price guides give a starting point; the actual quote depends on the vehicle, the glass, the film and the access for a mobile installation. This guide explains the variables and what to send for an accurate quote.

Starting prices for a typical car

Guardian Tints publishes two-door cars from £160 and four-door cars from £200. Vans start from £160, SUVs and MPVs from £200. These are starting prices for clean glass with standard film. Existing film, non-standard glazing or premium film specifications push the price up.

What changes the price

  • Number and size of panes.
  • Existing film that needs removing first (we charge £50/hour for removal).
  • Film specification: dyed, carbon or ceramic.
  • Glass type: factory-tinted, laminated or coated glass needs assessment.
  • Sunroofs and windscreens are quoted separately.
  • Mobile access and parking.

Front windscreens

Front windscreens in the UK are subject to the 75% light-transmission rule. A dark windscreen film is rarely legal, and windscreen work is therefore a separate quote rather than part of the standard car price.

What to send for a quote

Send the vehicle make, model and year, the registration if convenient, your postcode, and the windows you want tinted. Mention any existing film, glass tint, sensors or trackers near the windscreen. We confirm a written quote covering film, preparation, aftercare and warranty before booking.
