Why fleet operators ask about window tinting

Most fleet enquiries come from three groups: trades whose vans carry tools and stock, sales teams who spend long hours driving between sites, and managers responsible for company cars used by multiple drivers. The reasons also vary: reducing cabin heat for driver comfort, protecting vehicle interiors from UV fading, providing privacy for tools and equipment, or presenting a consistent corporate appearance across the fleet. There is no single right specification; the choice depends on the glazing, the way each vehicle is used, and what the fleet operator is trying to achieve.

Vehicle types we tint as fleet work

We tint single-cab and double-cab vans, crew vans, panel vans with side windows, passenger vans, SUVs used as company cars, and traditional saloons or hatchbacks. Converted camper vans and refrigerated vans need an initial assessment because of non-standard glazing, internal fittings or insulation. We confirm the glazing type (tempered, laminated, factory-tinted) before quoting; that affects both the legal position for front windows and the film choice for the rest of the vehicle.

UK tint law and front glazing on fleet vehicles

For vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows at least 70%, measured through the combined glass and film. Earlier vehicles require at least 70% on both. Rear side windows and the rear screen are not covered by these limits. Factory glass often leaves very little headroom on the front, so dark films are usually not an option for the front side windows without breaking the law. We confirm the chosen specification against these rules and never knowingly quote a non-compliant front treatment.

Planning the work to keep your fleet moving

Fleet work is scheduled around your operation. Most fleet operators prefer evenings, weekends or a quiet midweek slot so vehicles are off the road for the shortest time. A single visit can cover several vehicles at the same depot; vehicles can be rotated through the installation area one at a time so the rest stay usable. Send the vehicle list with registration, model year and the windows to be tinted, plus the depot postcode, contact for access, and any height or power restrictions. We confirm a plan in writing before the visit.

Pricing and what affects the quote

Fleet quotes are built per vehicle rather than from the standard car price guide, because fleet glazing (often heavy rear doors, barn doors, sliding panels) does not match retail car work. Send the registration list and a brief description of how each vehicle is used. We will confirm the price per vehicle, the total for the batch, and the time the work will take. Discuss pricing when booking several vehicles: same-location, same-day work can usually be scheduled together and the per-vehicle figure depends on the work.

What a fleet manager receives

A short written specification per vehicle (film brand and shade, windows covered), confirmation that front glazing meets UK rules, the price per vehicle and the total, and the warranty terms in writing. If you need invoices in a specific format or require a single monthly billing cycle for a rolling programme, mention it when booking.

Frequently asked questions about fleet work

Common questions cover whether we work evenings or weekends, what happens if a vehicle is off-road on the day, how to schedule rolling programmes, and whether we can quote against an existing framework agreement. Send the specifics and we will respond in writing.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How many vehicles can you tint in one visit?

It depends on the spec per vehicle and the depot layout. Most visits cover three to six vehicles in a working day; very light film can run higher.

Do you offer a discount for fleet volumes?

Discuss pricing when booking several vehicles. Same-location, same-day work can usually be scheduled together and the per-vehicle figure depends on the work.

Do you work outside business hours?

Yes. Evenings and Saturdays are common for fleet work. Sunday work is by arrangement only.

Can you match an existing specification on a new vehicle?

Yes. Send the original quote or the installation paperwork and we will order and fit the equivalent film.
