Identify the room’s main problem

A bright conservatory, overlooked living room and home office may need different films. Tell us when glare or heat is most noticeable, which direction the windows face and how much daylight you want to retain. The darkest-looking film is not automatically the right solution. Film performance depends on its specification and the glazing on which it is installed.

Understand daytime and night-time privacy

Reflective privacy film works through a difference in light levels. It may make it harder to see inside during the day, but the effect can reverse when the room is brighter than outside. Curtains or blinds may still be needed at night. Frosted films can obscure the view in both directions, which is a different trade-off from preserving an outward view.

Check compatibility with the glass

Double glazing, laminated glass, coated glass and conservatory roofs require a suitability check. Applying an unsuitable film can increase thermal-stress risk or affect a glazing warranty. Provide any glazing specifications you have and mention existing coatings, cracks or replacement panes. Do not select a vehicle film for a building simply because its colour looks suitable.

Getting a residential quote

Send your postcode, approximate pane sizes, photographs and the number of windows. Mention high-level glazing, restricted access and any existing film. Residential work is quoted to the project; the car-tint prices on our service guide should not be used to estimate a house. Confirm the film, installation side, access arrangements and warranty terms before accepting a quote.

Installation and care

Move furniture and delicate items away from the working area and agree safe access with the installer. Follow the supplied curing and cleaning guidance. Film can help manage solar gain or glare, but it does not replace ventilation, insulation or blinds in every situation. Ask for product-specific performance information rather than relying on an unqualified energy-saving percentage.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does reflective film give privacy at night?

Not reliably. When the room is brighter than outside, the daytime privacy effect can reverse. Blinds or curtains may still be needed.

Can film be fitted to any double glazing?

Not without checking suitability. The glass construction, coatings, condition and selected film must be considered together.
